Groom Lake

Groom Lake is a dry salt flat located within the Nevada Test and Training Range in southern Nevada, United States. The area is most famously associated with Area 51, the top-secret United States Air Force facility, and has become a central location in UFO lore, conspiracy theories, and advanced aerospace testing.

Geography

Groom Lake is a natural salt flat approximately 5 miles long and 2 miles wide. The lakebed is a flat, barren expanse of hardened salt, making it ideal for constructing long runways and testing aircraft. It sits at an elevation of about 4,200 feet (1,280 meters) above sea level, surrounded by mountainous terrain that provides natural cover and isolation.

Area 51 and Groom Lake

Bob Lazar, in 1989, claimed that an alleged sub-facility known as S-4 was located near Groom Lake, where he worked on reverse-engineering alien spacecraft.
